More Apple Corrections...

Yesterday afternoon, I happened to come across the Capo Supremo... or, the Big Boss... of the apple tort-making Group of 7 while she & her son unloaded a van stuffed to the roof with apple pies, cakes, strudels, fritters & croissants. I asked her how many sweets they had made and she replied... 250, caro!!! So, I said... You must be relieved to be done with Kitchen Duty and she screamed out... Oh, no!!! We've got to make another 400 just to make what we sold last year. I wasn't so far off from the 800 I had heard around the village. Gads.

  2. PLEASE, I hope you can share some photos of the Sagra dei Pomi with us the next time you post. Any chance of local recipes available?
Can you even get pepto-bismol in Codiponte?

  3. To Field of Gold... yes, respecting the village power structures is the most difficult trap.
To Anonymous... here in the Lunigiana, there are "guy things" and "girls tasks" and n'er do they ever meet. I'd love to have some recipes for at least one of the apple torts but... A) I'm the wrong sex... and B) I'd be stepping on some toes as recipes here are State Secrets. I can say this... the crust of the apple strudel's are made with olive oil instead of Julia Child's love of butter!!! Oh, and no nuts too.
